ENSURING A KNOWLEDGEABLE GERIATRIC WORKFORCE: INTERDISCIPLINARY EDUCATION IN LONG-TERM SERVICES AND SUPPORTS

Abstract In this symposium, we describe five interdisciplinary educational programs to enhance the geriatric workforce in long-term services and supports (LTSS): Skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), assisted living, home health hospice. The teams that came together offer leveraged technology maximize access experts both curriculum development process delivery of for a wide range target learners. first program, an telementoring series on dementia care therapists SNFs, was developed by team from occupational, physical speech therapy. program included asynchronous online didactic content case-based learning relevant therapists. second engaged faculty seven graduate programs: Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Occupational Dentistry, Social Work, Nursing Physician Assistant co-create interprofessional LTSS certificate Gerontology. encompasses courses enable flexibility across cover specific LTSS. third nurses completed course better prepare them complex older adults, improve leadership skills, become more resilient, complete QAPI projects. fourth focused utilizing perspectives educate direct staff unique needs LGBTQ adults. fifth offered virtual telehealth clinical experience therapy students practice SNF setting. eight modules four patient encounters exposed context.
